Political Reactions to the South Kolkata Law College Incident
TMC leader Debangshu Bhattacharya thanked the administration for swift arrests, saying,

This is Bengal — here accused are arrested, not garlanded. No one can predict a criminal act, but what matters is whether the state stands with the victim or the accused. Bengal’s administration has always followed a zero-tolerance policy in such cases, unlike others.

Congress leader Suman Roy Chowdhury condemned the incident as "shameful", alleging that

The police often act under the ruling party’s pressure. An administration led by a woman CM yet failing to protect women, is disgraceful. This isn’t the first time TMC leaders have committed such acts and have been shielded. Bengal’s women must wake up.

Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari expressed shock, claiming that

The prime accused, Manojit Mishra, is a powerful TMC student leader." He added that this incident proves "how TMC’s student wing corrupts educational spaces and spreads fear. an impartial, swift probe and strict punishment, regardless of political links," and called for "stronger campus security to prevent such crimes in the future.
