Indian legend to get ownership stake in sports goods manufacturing company
Virat Kohli continues to grow his business portfolio as the former Indian captain has invested Rs 40 crore in Agilitas, a Bengaluru-based sporting goods manufacturing company. Owned by former Puma India head Abhishek Ganguly, Agilitas will see further investment from Kohli, who has made his first tranche in the start-up.
Following his Test retirement announcement, Virat is enjoying a well-deserved break from cricket as he looks to spend more time with his family.
Kohli, who was previously Puma's brand ambassador, decided not to renew his deal with the sports-wear giant earlier in 2025 and opted to join hands with Agilitas.
Kohli's partnership with Agilitas to earn him ownership rights in the company
As part of the partnership, Virat will invest Rs 40 crores in the company initially, and he will get ownership stakes in the firm. In his role, Kohli will not only be the face of Agilitas, but he will also shape the brand's growth going forward.
According to Moneycontrol.com, the legendary cricketer has been issued around 3.6 lakh Class 2 Compulsorily Convertible Preference Shares (Class 2 CCPS), which can mandatorily be converted into equity shares.
The report adds that Agilitas have planned to create an end-to-end chain of everything related to sports. As part of their efforts, the firm acquired Mochiko Shoes, a company which manufactures shoes for global giants like Adidas, Puma, New Balance, etc.
Kohli's impressive business acumen
For all the money Virat Kohli has earned through his on-field exploits, the cricketer has been investing in multiple start-ups and businesses, like Digit, Wrogn, and MPL. He has also opened his own chain of restaurants called One8 Commune.
The 36-year-old will next be seen donning the Indian jersey during the 3-match ODI series against Bangladesh, which commences from 17 August.
